Chickpeas

Chickpeas, or garbanzo beans, have been eaten around the world for almost 8,000 years! They are the primary ingredient in hummus, and following the soybean, are the second most eaten bean across the globe.

This plant-based protein is highly recommended for non-meat eaters, like vegans and vegetarians, since it contains important vitamins and minerals like iron, zinc, folate, phosphorus, and Vitamin B.

Chickpeas are helpful in:

  • Increasing satiety, or the feeling of fullness
  • Stimulating digestion
  • Balancing pH levels in the stomach
  • Stabilizing blood sugar levels
  • Preventing heart disease
  • Improving the immune system
  • Easing PMS symptoms
